The Taqueria will be open Monday- Thursday 5 p.m. Taqueria El Atoradero will be located inside Littlefield's Parklife bar at 636 Sackett Street in Gowanus Instagram. Parklife is a bar in Gowanus with a big outdoor area and a taqueria from the people behind El Atoradero. The Taqueria is slated to open on Friday. Parklife is a unique indoor/outdoor restaurant & bar in Gowanus, Brooklyn. There will be four salsas on the menu, including cucumber verde (pepino verde) and a mango habanero, both new, joining molcajete and roja. "įinally, they'll be creating a salsa bar that takes a page from a similar setup at Los Tacos No.1 in Chelsea Market. "We were playing around with hamburger tacos last year with friends and french fries and tacos taste really good, french fries and burritos is kind of a thing already, so we wanted to offer. "I've been to Mexico City a couple times for research and there's this great taqueria in La Merced that calls themselves McTio, with big golden arches, and one of their taco options is french fries," Arenstein says. Crisp, fast food-style fries are topped with all the fixings, including beans, cheese and pickled jalapenos. Their classic, with a base of house-made blue corn chips, can be upended with a french fries substitution, a riff the restaurant experimented with as an off-menu item last summer. "Campechano usually means 'more than one topping,'" which at the taqueria could mean tacos topped with chorizo, cheese and french fries or chorizo and steak.Ī post shared by El Atoradero Brooklyn on at 12:19pm PDTĮl Atoradero's superlative nachos will be served at Littlefield, too. "We're doing campechano.which is a little more free-wheeling," Arenstein explains. The superb homemade tortillas and taco fillings that garnered Lina success at her first restaurant in the Bronx will now be on offer in Gowanus, including her famed carnitas. Guests can place an order there and, eventually, there will be a kiosk on the Littlefield side where event goers can place an order to be delivered to that side of the venue. The Taqueria will be a walk-up window in a shipping container in the outdoor space. Parklife is a hashtag inspired by the memorable narration featured in Blurs 1994 eponymous hit single and coined by British marketing consultant Dan Barker to make fun of British actor-comedian Russell Brands tendencies to derail into anti-authoritarian tirades in his public appearances and interviews. "We wanted to use this as a test to see if we could start doing taquerias like that." "We've been wanting to do a taqueria version of El Atoradero for a little while and the timing kind of worked out really well," Arenstein told Gothamist. Owner Noah Arenstein and Chef Denisse Lina will run Taqueria El Atoradero inside the venue's "Parklife," an adjacent bar and 4,000-square-foot outdoor area next to the main venue space. Joining them in this new venture: El Atoradero, the Prospect Heights darling serving some of the city's best Mexican fare. Eight year old Gowanus venue Littlefield recently uprooted from Degraw Street to new and larger digs a block away on Sackett Street.
